...especially when the "kids" are so well-behaved! Sure, they were sticking their tongues out most of the time...but they were great listeners, hit their marks most of the time, acted naturally in front of the camera, and we all had a great time!
Thanks, to a really nice, great looking couple (they were well-behaved too!)...for sharing your family with me!

Abigail's!
My beautiful girls and I had so much fun this afternoon working with Melissa of Abigail's! If you haven't been to her shop yet, and you love vintage, funky, fun, unique furnishings for your home and other great stuff...GO! She's open Fridays and Saturdays at 330 N. 4th Ave. in Pocatello, the cute little blue house!
Today, my girls were modeling her fabulous slip dresses! They are so cute, so easy to wear and so much fun to accessorize!
Thanks Melissa, for asking us to do this fun shoot with you! (...and this is just a teaser of a lot of great images...!)

Photo-a-Day! ...sort of...!
I've been gone for a bit...headed West to one of my very favorite places, the Oregon Coast! ...and Corvallis! Spent some time hiking some beautiful waterfall trails along the Gorge, did a lot of beach walking (my all-time favorite thing to do!), sight-seeing, eating yummy seafood and then headed over to Corvallis to watch OSU's graduation (and this one cute boy we know who graduated with high honors!) and pick up our daughter to bring her home for the summer! :]
Now that the weather seems to have picked a season (summer, at last!) I have some plantings to do!

We've launched our new website!
My husband, Mike, and I have been working on our fine art portfolios for quite some time...to edit them, combine them and design a new webpage has taken some time, but proved to be worth the effort! We launched our new website http://www.mikeandkrisryanphoto.com/ and would love for you all to check it out and see what we've been up to!
We are this month's featured artist at Marigold's, a great new "try before you buy" wine shop in Pocatello! We have a variety of framed art on display; traditional prints, canvas wraps and a new vivid metallic print that is pretty amazing to see!
As a result of all of this preparation, I am taking a week or so off! I absolutely love being a photographer and wouldn't trade it for the world, but all of this computer work has made me a little stir crazy (not to mention all of this rain!)! So, enjoy all of these images, a sampling of our work...take a look at our new webpage...and enjoy your week!

Assignment - Depth of Field!
Here's a great example of the tremendous difference depth of field can make when composing an image! Thanks to Buck Cooper for emailing these photos to me...from the Field of Heroes (the memorial set up at Century High School to honor our fallen soldiers). What a "humbling experience", as Buck wrote, "walking through 4440 crosses".
The first picture, here on the left, was taken with at f32 (a very small aperture)...and required over 1 full second to compose (absolutely must have a tripod for long exposures like that!). Everything is clearly sharp from foreground to background. The second picture, was shot at f2.8 at 1/100 second. Taking a photo with a wide open aperture like this results in much more light being let in, therefore, a very shallow depth of field...blurring everything but the focal point, which, in this case, is that front cross.
I want to stress, again, that neither of these choices is right or wrong...it is simply a personal, creative choice and should have a lot to do with your subject matter, the available light you have to work with, and the end result you are looking for.
In this case, with such a compelling subject matter, both depth of field choices are particularly valid. Nicely done Buck!
